RDX charges: Jagtar Singh Hawara acquitted in ex-Punjab CM Beant Singh case, but to remain in jail | Details inside
PTC Web Desk: The Chandigarh District Court has acquitted Jagtar Singh Hawara, associated with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) group, in the assassination case of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. Despite this relief, Jagtar Singh Hawara's legal battles persist as he faces accusations, particularly those tied to explosives such as RDX.
His acquittal in this case does not grant immediate freedom as he remains in jail due to ongoing investigations in other alleged criminal involvements.
Jagtar Singh Hawara's exoneration in the Beant Singh assassination case resulted from the Chandigarh Police's failure to present substantial evidence in connection to the RDX charges. The allegations implicated Hawara in providing RDX to his associates, Kamaljit and Paramjit, for a blast plot. However, the Chandigarh District Court highlighted the absence of compelling evidence, leading to his acquittal.
He is currently lodged at Tihar Jail in Delhi.
