Punjab: Three arrested in major arms smuggling bust, large cache of weapons seized
PTC News Desk: In a significant crackdown on illegal arms smuggling into Punjab from Madhya Pradesh, the Amritsar Rural Police have successfully apprehended three individuals involved in the illicit trade during two separate operations.
This development was announced by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav in a tweet, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat organised crime in the region.
The arrested suspects were reportedly providing logistical support to various criminal gangs engaged in the illegal arms trade. The police operations resulted in the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons, which included eight pistols, 17 live cartridges, and four magazines.
DGP Yadav emphasized the Punjab Police's commitment to taking stringent action against organised crime and illegal weapon smuggling networks. He stated that the police are actively working to unravel the entire network involved in these operations by tracing both forward and backward linkages. This proactive approach aims to dismantle the criminal syndicates operating in the region and ensure the safety and security of the public.
