Punjab Budget Session begins today, Opp set to corner law and order situation
Chandigarh, March 3: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has geared up for the Budget session is which will be held at Vidhan Sabha on Friday. It has been bracing for countering the attack from Opposition on the treasury benches.
The session will start with the speech of Governor at 10 am, the proceedings of the session will start. The Governor will address the proceedings of session. All the 92 AAP MLAs will be present in the budget session including Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann will reach the Legislative Assembly.
The budget session of the 16th Vidhan Sabha of Punjab is starting on Friday in a political atmosphere which will continue till March 24. This budget session is likely to be stormy as the session is taking place amidst the political sourness between the Chief Minister and the Governor.

The Treasury benches in the budget session will take on the Opposition parties on the issue of corruption cases being dug out by the Vigilance Bureau. They will likely to use the findings of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for 2021-22 (when Congress was in power) to hit out at 18 Congress MLAs. The report of the CAG is to be presented in the House on March 7.
The budget session will be held in two sessions due to the G20 summit. In the 'first phase', the session will run from March 3 to March 11 and the House will reconvene again on March 22. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will present the budget for the year 2023-24 on March 10. The first day of the budget session is likely to be interesting.
CM Bhagwant Maan will try to woo the people by showing the map of the development of the state for the next years with this budget. Efforts will be made to fulfill the guarantees and incomplete schemes given by AAP to the people of Punjab.
Along with this, the opposition parties have also made a strategy to surround the government on various issues of Punjab. Although the atmosphere of the first day in the House is less likely to be very hot. Because the proceedings of the House will be adjourned after the Governor's speech and then paying homage to the departed. The active proceedings of the House and the process of charge-sheeting between the government and the opposition are likely to intensify from the second day.
How much development of which sector from the budget
The thing to be seen will be that in this financial year 'which areas of development' will be emphasized. How much fund will be reserved by the state government for the development and strengthening of which area for public welfare. The eyes of all the opposition parties including Punjab will also remain on this side.
Although AAP is giving priority to education, health and employment after the formation of the government in Punjab, but at present, maintaining law and order remains a big challenge in front of the Punjab government. Smuggling of drugs, drones and weapons from border areas is also a big topic, including the developments taking place in Punjab.
