PTC MD Rabindra Narayan receives honour at Sorbonne University convocation
PTC News Desk: In a glittering convocation ceremony held in New Delhi, Rabindra Narayan, the Managing Director and President of PTC Network, was conferred a PhD in Media & Entertainment.
Narayan, who is often hailed as the Father of Punjabi Satellite Television, has dedicated his life to advancing Punjabi theatre and television, bringing them to the forefront of the global media industry since founding the pioneering Punjabi channel, Punjabi World, in 1998. Today, he leads the world’s largest Punjabi television network, PTC Network.
The historic Sorbonne University was founded in 1298 and is renowned for its academic excellence. Sorbonne consistently ranks among the top universities globally, a testament to its rich heritage and commitment to education. The institution gained significant recognition in 2018 when it appeared in the CWUR World University Rankings, securing the 29th position globally and the top spot in France.
The university boasts a legacy of excellence, with luminaries such as Marie Curie, who studied and later became a professor here, and several Nobel laureates among its alumni.
Rabindra Narayan's contributions to media and entertainment, particularly in promoting Punjabi culture, were lauded during the convocation. His visionary efforts have not only elevated Punjabi television but have also preserved and propagated the rich cultural heritage of Punjab on a global platform.
