Chandigarh, July 24: In a tragic incident, Squadron Leader Arshita Jaiswal, an esteemed officer of the Indian Air Force (IAF), breathed her last at the Army's command hospital in Panchkula. The officer had been battling for her life since July 17 when she was brutally attacked by a mess worker at her official residence in Punjab's Pathankot. The authorities confirmed her demise during the evening hours on Saturday, around 6:30 pm, as stated by Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh.

The horrifying incident occurred on July 17 when the IAF officer was confronted by the assailant inside her official residence in the Pathankot district.


It was revealed that the attacker had entered the premises with the intention of robbery, but the situation quickly escalated into a violent assault, leaving Squadron Leader Arshita Jaiswal with critical injuries.

The accused, identified as a mess worker, mercilessly attacked the officer multiple times using a sharp weapon, causing severe injuries to her head. The assault left her in a critical condition, and she was rushed to a medical facility for urgent treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and colleagues.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, the Pathankot Police sprang into action, utilizing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the accused. The authorities successfully arrested the perpetrator on the same day of the attack, July 17.

The news of Squadron Leader Arshita Jaiswal's untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the nation, as citizens mourn the loss of a dedicated and brave officer who served her country with honor and distinction.
