The Nagar Kirtan commenced from Sri Akal Takht Sahib in the Golden Temple complex, Amritsar, where prayers were offered, and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was adorned with reverence. The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, led the procession.

In the grand Nagar Kirtan, not only did the Sikh community actively participated, but various Sikh organisations, members of the SGPC, and prominent leaders also joined in the religious procession. The roads were adorned with welcome gates representing different Sikh historical gurdwaras, showcasing the rich culture and heritage of the Sikh community.
The devotees extended a warm welcome to the participants throughout the procession. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee ensured that langar (community kitchen) and water facilities were available along different stretches of the procession for the convenience of the attendees.
