New Jersey governor thanks Diljit Dosanjh for 'sold out' show: 'Punjabi Aa Gaye'

PTC News Desk: Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey recently praised Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh for his sold-out performance in the US state. Murphy described it as a "significant occasion for the Punjabi society."

Murphy posted a video of herself swooning over Dosanjh and said, "Thank you, @diljitdosanjh, for bringing your tour to New Jersey with a sold-out show at @PruCenter last night." For the Punjabi community in the US, particularly the hundreds of New Jerseyans who grew up dancing to Diljit's music, this is a historic occasion.

He ended his message with a Punjabi phrase that has gained popularity since Dosanjh used it at his Coachella performance earlier: "Punjabi aa gaye!" (The Punjabis have arrived!).

Afterwards, Diljit used the emoji of folded hands to respond to Murphy's message.

Aside from his concerts, Diljit is currently the principal actor in Amar Singh Chamkila, a Netflix film directed by Imtiaz Ali. The movie, which also stars Parineeti Chopra, features music composed by AR Rahman.
