Sidhu Moosewala Murder Case: Gokul Setia, the grandson of former Haryana minister Laxman Das Arora, has recently stirred controversy after his photos with gangster Goldie Brar went viral on social media. Goldie Brar is a key accused in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
The viral images have led to public outrage, particularly among Sidhu Moosewala's fans in Punjab and Haryana. Gokul Setia, who previously contested as an independent candidate from the Sirsa Assembly seat, joined the Congress shortly after these images surfaced.
The viral photos have fueled claims that Setia is a close friend of the gangster, further escalating tensions within the region. In response, Setia has addressed these allegations, stating that while he did know Goldie Brar during their college days, he has no current ties with him. Setia has accused his political rival, Gopal Kanda, the current MLA, of orchestrating this smear campaign to tarnish his reputation.
Setia claims that the photos are part of a deliberate attempt to defame him, alleging that Gopal Kanda is behind the release of the decade-old images.
Setia argues that if Goldie Brar were truly a gangster, he would not have been allowed close proximity to former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who is also pictured with Brar in one of the images.
Setia has dismissed the allegations, insisting that his relationship with Brar is purely from their college days and has no relevance to his current political career.

The Setia family has long been influential in Sirsa's political landscape. Gokul Setia's maternal grandfather, Laxman Das Arora, served as an MLA five times from the Sirsa Vidhan Sabha seat. After his passing, Setia's mother, Sunita Setia, attempted to continue the family's political legacy by contesting the 2014 elections on a BJP ticket, though she was unsuccessful.
Gokul Setia took over the mantle in 2019, running as an independent candidate but narrowly losing to Gopal Kanda by 602 votes. On Tuesday, Gokul Setia officially joined the Congress, further cementing his political ambitions.
In response to Setia's accusations, Gopal Kanda has denied any involvement in releasing the photos, asserting that he engages in "clean politics" and does not partake in such tactics. Kanda questioned how a personal photo from Setia's college days could have surfaced unless Setia himself had shared it on social media. Kanda dismissed Setia's claims as politically motivated, intended to garner sympathy and distract from his own shortcomings.
The controversy surrounding Gokul Setia's alleged ties to Goldie Brar continues to generate significant discussion and debate within the political circles of Haryana.
