Geetika Sharma case: Delhi court acquits former Haryana MLA Gopal Kanda in air hostess suicide case

Geetika Sharma suicide case: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday acquitted former Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda and one other in the air hostess Geetika Sharma suicide case. 

The case revolved around Geetika Sharma, a former air hostess who was earlier employed with Kanda's MDLR airlines, was found dead on August 5, 2012, at her Ashok Vihar residence in North West Delhi.

In her suicide note, she also named co-accused Aruna Chadha as the person responsible for her death. She had alleged that she was ending her life due to ‘harassment’ by Kanda and Chadha.

Delhi court acquits former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda in air hostess suicide case

New Delhi, July 25: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday acquitted former Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda in connection with the death of air hostess Geetika Sharma by suicide.

The former minister was arrested in 2012 on charges of rape and abetment to suicide after a Delhi court put him on trial in connection with the Geetika Sharma case. Sharma worked in Kanda's aviation company, MDLR airlines, named after his father Murli Dhar Lakh Ram, and had accused him of harassment in her suicide note. Geetika was found dead on August 5, 2012, at her Ashok Vihar residence in North-West Delhi.

Delhi: Yamuna continues to flow above danger mark at 205.45 meters

New Delhi, July 25: Yamuna River continued to overflow in Delhi with water level recorded at 205.45 meters at 7 am on Tuesday. The danger mark of the Yamuna River is at 205.33 meters. On Monday the water level in Yamuna was at 206.56 metres.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, announcements were made by the administration to vacate low-lying areas near the floodplains.

Monsoon Session 2023: As both Houses of Parliament were adjourned on Monday due to persistent uproar from the Opposition, demanding a detailed statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Manipur situation, similar scenes are anticipated when the Parliament reconvenes on the 4th day of the ongoing Monsoon Session, on Tuesday.

Notably, the members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) will convene at the office of Congress national president and the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, to devise a floor management strategy before the Upper House resumes its session. The floor leaders' meeting is scheduled for 10 am.


Meanwhile, about the weather update, Cloudburst strikes Kullu district due to relentless and torrential rainfall and thunderstorm in Himachal Pradesh. 

Thus, due to the cloudburst several houses were damaged and two bridges also washed away. 

As per the data, a total of five houses were completely damaged and and 15 houses have been partially damaged due to the occurrence of cloudbursts.
