Fugitive Pro-Khalistan preacher Amritpal Singh arrested by Punjab Police: IG Sukhchain Gill
Chandigarh, April 23: Punjab Police have arrested fugitive Pro-Khalistan preacher Amritpal Singh on Sunday morning after conducting a special operation in Moga district.
According to IG Punjab Police Sukhchain Singh Gill, the police had concrete information and it was a joint operation of Punjab police and intelligence wing. The police had surrounded the entire Rode village and Amritpal was given a message that he had been surrounded and had no chance to escape. Since Amritpal was inside Gurudwara, the police did not enter the Gurdwara to maintain its sanctity.

Gill also said that law will work under due process and thanked people of Punjab for maintaining peace. Meanwhile, Amritpal Singh is going to be shifted to Dibrugarh under NSA warrant which was issued and now will be executed. Amripal Singh will be taken to Assam where nine of his associates are already lodged. Heavy security deployment has been made at the Mohanbari airport in Dibrugarh and outside Dibrugarh Central Jail.#AmritpalSingh arrested in Moga, Punjab.

Hours before his arrest, 'Waris Punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh had addressed devotees in Rodewal Gurudwara in Punjab's Moga. According to Singh Sahib Giani Jasbir Singh Rode of Rodewal Gurudwara, Amritpal Singh had himself informed the police about his presence and had agreed to surrender.
