Double delight for working professionals: Celebrate August with two long weekends

PTC Web Desk: As August approaches, working professionals in India have something to look forward to: two long weekends that offer the perfect opportunity for relaxation, exploration, and adventure.

First Long Weekend: August 15-19

The festivities kick off on Thursday, August 15, with Independence Day, which also marks Parsi New Year. This sets the stage for a five-day break, extending from Friday, August 16, through Monday, August 19, in celebration of Raksha Bandhan.

Schedule for the First Long Weekend:

Thursday, August 15: Independence Day and Parsi New Year

Friday, August 16: Take the day off

Saturday, August 17: Weekend

Sunday, August 18: Weekend

Monday, August 19: Raksha Bandhan

Interestingly, in India, Nowruz 2024 will be celebrated twice due to different calendar traditions. The first celebration aligns with the global spring equinox on March 20, while the second follows the Shahenshahi calendar on August 15, leading to two New Year celebrations for the Parsi community.

Second Long Weekend: August 24-26

The second long weekend arrives shortly after, starting on Saturday, August 24, and extending to Monday, August 26, for Janmashtami.

Schedule for the Second Long Weekend:

Saturday, August 24: Weekend

Sunday, August 25: Weekend

Monday, August 26: Janmashtami

These extended breaks are perfect for short getaways. Whether you're dreaming of a relaxing beach vacation, a thrilling adventure trip, or a cultural exploration within the country or abroad, these weekends provide the ideal chance to unwind and explore.

Given the high demand for travel during these periods, it's advisable to book your flights and accommodations well in advance to avoid last-minute hassles and inflated prices. So, mark your calendars, plan your itineraries, and get ready to make the most of these long weekends in August!
