Chandigarh grenade blast: Punjab police arrests second accused in Delhi

Chandigarh grenade blast: In a significant development, Punjab Police, with the help of central agencies, have arrested Vishal Masih, the second accused in the Chandigarh grenade blast case. Masih was apprehended in Delhi, following a prompt investigation that began after the incident on September 11.

According to a post by the DGP of Punjab Police on X, the grenade attack occurred in Sector 10, Chandigarh, causing considerable alarm. The Punjab Police had already arrested the first suspect, Rohan Masih, on September 13, just two days after the attack.

Vishal Masih, son of Sabi Masih and a resident of Raimal village in Batala, District Gurdaspur, was arrested within 72 hours of the incident. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.

The grenade attack took place around 5:30 pm on September 11, targeting the residence of a retired police officer in the upscale Sector 10 area of Chandigarh. The explosion caused damage to windows and flower pots in the vicinity.

Reports indicate that three individuals arrived at the scene in an autorickshaw shortly before the blast. The explosion was powerful enough to be heard from a considerable distance. Surveillance footage captured by a nearby CCTV camera shows the autorickshaw speeding away from the scene, narrowly avoiding a collision with an oncoming car before making a hasty turn.

Further investigation revealed that the attackers had conducted surveillance of the house two days prior to the grenade attack. Sources suggest that Khalistani terrorist Rinda, currently based in Pakistan, may be involved in orchestrating the blast.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the details of the plot and identify all individuals involved.
