'Chakka Jam' in Punjab; know which highways to remain closed
Mohali, November 16: In protest against the alleged failure of Central and Punjab governments to fulfill their demands made during the Delhi morcha, farmers in Punjab have given a call for 'Chakka Jam' across the state on Wednesday. Farmer leaders have urged the public to extend support to their protest.
Giving information, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, senior leader of non-political Sanyukt kisan Morcha (SKM), said they had been forced to resort to Chakka Jam. He said farmers had been staging dharnas in Faridkot, Amritsar, Talwandi Sabo and Mansa district for the last few months, but the government had failed to pay any attention towards them.

Jagjit Singh Dallewal said children of those who attained "martyred" during Kisan Andolan were yet to be given government job. Several other demands remained fulfilled despite assurances by the government.
Amid the Chakka Jam call, the police have made elaborate security arrangements at various places. On the other hand, farmers said they would intensify the protest if their demands were not fulfilled by government.
Know which highways to be affected
Commuters should refrain from using highways in Punjab on Wednesday. Main places where 'Chakka Jam' will be held are Dhareri Jattan on Rajpura-Patiala Road, Faridkot Tahina T-Point, Sri Amritsar Sahib Bhandari Bridge, Teen Koniyan Bridge, Mansa Road, near Mukerian, and Talwandi Sabo Road.
