Bengaluru NRI's Tesla gets BMTC-inspired number plate as tribute to retired driver
PTC News Desk: A Bengaluru NRI, who currently resides in California, has recently won the hearts of many by getting a unique registration number for his brand-new Tesla car. The number plate that he chose has a connection with his school days and pays tribute to a retired BMTC bus driver.
The man named Chengappa got his Tesla a registration number that is quite similar to the one that was on the BMTC bus that he used to go to school in. While the BMTC bus had a registration number of “KA01F232”, his Tesla now has “KA1F232”.

Chengappa did his schooling in Bengaluru and travelled in the particular BMTC bus around 1992. He chose the number plate to show his attachment to those days and cherish his school memories. In addition, he also made this bid to pay tribute to the driver of that particular bus who recently got retired.
The retired BMTC bus driver, Dhanapal Manchenahalli, also shared pictures of the school bus and of Chengappa’s Tesla car on his social media handle. He mentioned in his post that many school children loved his bus when he worked as a driver in BMTC unit 11 in 1992. Among those children, Chengappa and Aditya have travelled to school for many years sitting on his vehicle bonnet. Aditya is now in Germany, and Chengappa is in California, USA. He is still in touch with Dhanapal and has paid tribute to him through his unique registration number.

In a video shared in the same post, Chengappa shares how he has a lot of memories with the F232 bus that he travelled in. He also spoke about his love for BMTC buses, which inspired him to take this decision. People like Dhanapal, who worked hard for decades, inspire us, and we will tell their stories to future generations, he added.
This heartwarming gesture by Chengappa has received a lot of love and appreciation from people. His love for his school memories and BMTC buses is evident through this act, and he has paid a unique tribute to the retired BMTC bus driver.
