PTC Web Desk: In a shocking act of violence in broad daylight, two shooters barged into a home in Amritsar's village of Daburji and opened fire, seriously injuring Sukhchain Singh, an American resident. The shocking incident has sent shockwaves in the region. Sukhchain Singh was struck by three bullets. He has been admitted to a private hospital in the city for treatment.

As per information, Singh had returned from the United States about a month ago and was engaged in local investment activities, including the purchase of a hotel and a luxury vehicle. Singh had purchased a hotel and a luxury Mercedes-Benz worth over Rs 1 crore just a week before the attack.

According to sources, Singh, who had come back to Punjab a month ago, was targeted by two persons who entered his home under the pretense of inspecting his car around 7.15 am this morning. The assailants brandished a pistol and threatened Singh, stating their intent to kill him. They fired two bullets at Singh, hitting him in the face. A third bullet misfired, giving Singh's wife a brief opportunity to pull him inside and secure the door, preventing the attackers from re-entering the house.

Singh is currently battling for his life in a private hospital in Amritsar. The attack is reportedly linked to previous threats from Singh's first wife's family, who had allegedly issued warnings against him.

Singh's family has urged the Punjab Chief Minister to focus on ground realities rather than mere publicity. They criticised the government’s emphasis on high-profile advertisements and urged that attention be given to improving actual conditions in the state.

Meanwhile, Amritsar Commissioner Ranjit Singh Dhillon said, "Sukhchain belongs to Daburji area in Amritsar. Two assailants entered Singh's residence on the pretext of enquiring about his car's registration certificate and then started firing at him. He is under treatment in the hospital. Sukhchain Singh's family has lodged an FIR against five family members of his former wife. The family members of Sukhchain Singh allege the role of family members of Sukhchain's ex-wife in this shooting incident. A total of three men arrived at the residence. Two of them entered the residence and they fired at Sukhchain. As per doctors, he is out of danger."
