Taliban seeks probe in killing of TTP commander

Islamabad [Pakistan], August 9: The Taliban spokesperson confirmed the killing of the top leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, Omar Khalid Khorasani in mysterious blast in Afghanistan and seeks probe of the incident from the Taliban government. As per the sources, Taliban spokesperson Muhammad Khorasani stated, "Senior TTP leader Omar Khalid Khorasani and two other members of the banned outfit were killed in a roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan on Sunday evening." omarkhalid5 Also Read | CM Yogi Adityanath receives bomb threat, probe on In a statement issued, TTP officials stated that the Omar has been killed in a blast in eastern Paktika province near the Barmal district on late Sunday evening. Meanwhile, TTP officials urged the Taliban government to investigate the incident and to unearth “spies” who could be responsible for the death of senior TTP commander. Abdul Wali Mohmand headed the TTP agency in Afghanistan. In a blast attack, apart from TTP leader two others have been killed in the attack. Omar Khalid was a former journalist and poet who headed Pakistan’s Karachi. His real name was Abdul Wali Mohmand. omarkhalid4 Recently, a jirga member had posted the TTP leader's photo on the sideline of its meeting with Pakistan's side which had held two rounds of talks in Kabul in the first week of June and late July. The TTP leader's killing could be seen as a major blow to the group, especially at a time when it is involved in talks with the Pakistani government, the Dawn reported. Meanwhile, the United States added Omar's name to the US State Department's Rewards for Justice wanted list in March 2018.
