Suresh Arora to continue as Punjab DGP, Centre approves extension
The Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday has approved the extension in service of Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Suresh Arora for an overall period of nine months till September 30, 2019.

DGP Suresh Arora had assumed charge as DGP on October 25, 2015 during the Shiromani Akali Dal – Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

A 1982-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, DGP Suresh Arora was scheduled to superannuate on September 30, 2018. Earlier, the central government had extended the tenure of Punjab and Haryana DGPs for three months.

Earlier, the Punjab government had written to the Centre government seeking one-year extension to DGP. The file was sent to the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) and the department of personnel and training, seeking extension to DGP Suresh Arora.
