SC names four members who endorsed farm laws 2020
The Supreme Court on Tuesday put a stay on the implementation of farm laws 2020 and has formed a 4-member committee to hold talks. The SC-appointed panel will comprise Bhupinder Singh Mann, Pramod Kumar Joshi, Ashok Gulati, and Anil Dhanwant. Soon after the decision was announced, people on social media began criticising its decision on forming the committee to discuss farm laws 2020. A tweet is going viral, posted by a user named Arun Arora who shared several screenshots of reports stating that these committee members once supported the farm laws 2020. He captioned: "All 4 members of the committee formed by SC supported these farm laws! Sorry, Saheb....yeh public ha ye sab jaanti hai!" A political critic also took to Twitter and wrote: "All 4 members of the Supreme Court-appointed committee have already supported the Farm Bills publicly. It's like making a committee of — Sambit Patra, Kangana Ranaut, Arnab Goswami, Rajat Sharma — to decide who is the best PM in the world." On the other hand, no lawyer from the farmers' side appeared for the hearing on Tuesday. HS Phoolka, representing farmers, clarified his absence from the hearing. He said, "I didn’t appear in #SupremeCourt today under instructions of my clients #FarmersUnions. The client decides which lawyer to appear with.
