Suicide blast near airport kills 17 in east Afghanistan
Seventeen people were killed in a blast allegedly triggered by a suicide bomber near Jalalabad airport in Afghanistan on Wednesday.
The blast took place in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province. Nine others were injured in the attack.

Following the suicide blast, a gun battle between the militants and locals guards started and continued for five hours. The US forces assisted the Afghan troops in the shootout.
Those who were killed were employees of the Afghan construction company EBE. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. No terror group immediately claimed the responsibility of the blast. But both the Taliban and Daesh are active in the region.

Two militants were killed after they detonated their explosives. The other three were killed during the gunfight.
