Siraj credits Bumrah for success; translation gesture wins hearts

PTC Web Desk: During the post-match presentation of the second India vs South Africa Test at Newlands in Cape Town, Jasprit Bumrah showcased his humility. Acting as a translator for Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah was praised by Siraj for his guidance in bowling. However, when translating Siraj's acknowledgment into English, Bumrah modestly attributed their success to the combined experience of both players and the team management. This humble act by Bumrah gained widespread attention as fans shared the video of the interaction on social media.

"Jassi bhai always sends me messages at the start about which line and length would be better on a specific wicket. So, receiving those messages eliminates the need for me to overthink; I just need to consistently work on that advice for success. It feels great when he is at the other end," said Mohammed Siraj.

Bumrah, in a team-oriented manner, refrained from highlighting Siraj's credit for his success in India vs South Africa Test. His translated statement avoided any direct mention of Siraj acknowledging him for his bowling guidance.

"When we're bowling together, the communication is a bit ahead because of our experience. We try to assess the pitch quickly so that we can communicate within the bowling unit about the conditions and our strategies. This quick communication sometimes benefits him," mentioned India's main pace bowler, Bumrah.

During the post-match conversation where Bumrah served as a translator, there was an instance when he had to remind Siraj of his role as the latter attempted to answer questions in English.

The Indian cricket team concluded their tour to South Africa with a seven-wicket victory in the second Test, leveling the series 1-1.

The match primarily belonged to Indian pacers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, who collectively took 15 wickets. Siraj notably secured 6 for 15 in the first innings while Bumrah claimed two wickets. In the subsequent innings, Bumrah shone with figures of 6 for 61, and Siraj contributed by taking one wicket.
