PTC Web Desk: India's captain, Rohit Sharma, shared an emotional reunion with his mother, Purnima, after leading the team to a historic T20 World Cup victory on Thursday. Following a three-day delay in Barbados, Team India finally returned and landed in New Delhi, greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of fans celebrating their World Champions.

The victorious team was honoured with a special breakfast meeting hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Later, they travelled to Mumbai, where an open bus victory parade took place, drawing even more jubilant fans.


Upon arriving in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma met his parents, Gurunath and Purnima Sharma. The reunion was heartwarming, with Purnima repeatedly kissing and hugging her son, overcome with emotion. This touching moment was captured by the media (Watch below).


Rohit Sharma's outstanding performance was pivotal to India's successful campaign. He emerged as the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament, amassing 257 runs in eight innings. His average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.70, including three fifties, underscored his crucial contributions.

Rohit began the tournament with an unbeaten 52 off 37 balls against Ireland. His most remarkable innings came in the Super 8 clash against Australia, where he scored a sensational 92 off just 41 deliveries, featuring seven fours and eight sixes. This explosive performance earned him the Player of the Match award as India secured a 24-run victory, pushing Australia to the brink of elimination.

Rohit’s third half-century came in the semi-final against England, where he scored 57 off 39 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes, guiding India to the finals.
