PTC News Desk: India's captain, Rohit Sharma, came up with a novel way to commemorate the team's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday. In the Barbados final against South Africa, Rohit's team pulled off a nail-biting win to snap their 11-year wait for an ICC championship. As ecstatic emotions filled the Indian camp, Rohit made the decision to consume some sand from the field where he ultimately won an ICC captain's title in order to preserve the memory of the occasion forever.

Rohit was seen moving sand off the Bardbaos pitch, where India and South Africa faced off in the championship match, in a footage that the ICC released. And then the Hitman inserted the sand between his teeth. This is the video:

In the press conference following the game, Rohit also declared his retirement from Twenty20 international cricket.

In his post-match press conference, the skipper stated, "This was my last game as well," alluding to an earlier statement made by Virat Kohli.

Since I began playing this format, I have found it enjoyable. There is no better moment to bid this format farewell. I have enjoyed every second of it. "Winning the cup is what I wanted," Rohit declared, receiving thunderous ovation from the press as he saluted the gathering.

In addition, Rohit thanked Rahul Dravid, the head coach, for finishing his tenure with a victory.

"The only thing left was what he had done for Indian cricket over the previous twenty to twenty-five years. The fact that we could accomplish this for him makes the entire team very happy, Rohit remarked.

Additionally, Rohit offered some particular words of praise for Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah.

"I am very lucky to have players like this in my squad, players who are playing for me and Team India - really, really grateful and thankful as well," he stated.

Rohit acknowledged that it was the apex of his career when asked."This has got to be the best moment ever. That's something I can say. It's just because I wanted this so much to succeed. I'm not big on numbers and all that, but all the runs I've scored over the years do matter. That is what I always look forward to: winning games and trophies for India," Rohit stated.
