Ravindra Jadeja joins Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli in T20I retirement; PM says 'cricket lovers admire your...'
PTC Web Desk: Following in the footsteps of Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, India's premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has announced his retirement from T20 internationals.
This comes a day after India won the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa by 7 runs at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Jadeja, recognised as one of the best all-rounders of all time, retires from T20I cricket at the age of nearly 36.
Taking to Instagram, the cricketer wrote, “With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support."
Following the announcement by Jadeja, Prime Minister took to X to extend best wishes.
"Dear Ravindra Jadeja, you have performed exceptionally as an all-rounder. Cricket lovers admire your stylish stroke play, spin and superb fielding. Thank you for the enthralling T20 performances over the years. My best wishes for your endeavours ahead," he posted.
