Ashwin withdraws from Rajkot Test:  Cricket is a team sport, but yet every day, every month and every year, we find some select faces that stand out in a crowd of hundreds of players out there representing their national flag on the pitch. The right-arm off spin bowler and a lower order batter, Ravichandran Ashwin who reached a massive career milestone of 500 Test wickets, has withdrawn from the ongoing Rajkot Test against England due to a family emergency. 

As per the sources, Ashwin will take no further part in the third Test against England.

The announcement has been made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stating that Ashwin had withdrawn from the ongoing third Test with immediate effect due to a family medical emergency. 

In an official statement, BCCI said, "The BCCI extends its heartfelt support to the champion cricketer and his family. The health and well-being of the players and their loved ones are of utmost importance. The Board requests respect for the privacy of Ashwin and his family as they navigate through this challenging time."

"The Board and the team will continue to provide any necessary assistance to Ashwin and will keep the lines of communication open to offer support as needed. Team India appreciates the understanding and empathy of the fans and media during this sensitive period," the statement further reads. 

Ashwin becomes second Indian to complete 500 wickets in Tests

Ravichandran Ashwin added another gem to his illuminating crown as he became the second Indian to complete 500 wickets in Tests.

The spin maestro has become the second Indian, following former spinner Anil Kumble, and the ninth overall player to claim 500 wickets in Test cricket. Ashwin now joins a prestigious list of nine bowlers in Test history to achieve this milestone. 

Earlier, centuries from Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja's as well as crucial lower-order runs--including 37 from Ashwin's bat--propelled India to 445.
