After a rocky start last year, the Paris Olympics 2024 has set a new benchmark in the history of the Games, with an unprecedented 9.7 million tickets sold. This remarkable achievement underscores the global excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the upcoming event, as organizers continue to make more tickets available to meet soaring demand.
Organizers of Paris Olympics 2024 revealed that 9.7 million tickets have been sold or allocated for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, with 8.7 million for the Olympics and 1 million for the Paralympics. Out of the 10 million tickets initially available for the Olympics, the remaining unsold tickets indicate that even with the historic popularity and unprecedented scale of this year's competitions, some seats will still be empty.
However, the total number of tickets sold is expected to increase, as tickets for some of the 45 sports are still available.
The previous record for ticket sales was set by Atlanta in 1996, with 8.3 million tickets sold.
Paris Olympics 2024: Date and Timings
The opening ceremony will take place on July 26, starting at 11:30 PM IST. However, India will officially kick off its campaign on July 25 with archery qualifications. The closing ceremony is scheduled for August 11.

The events at the Paris Olympics will generally begin around 11 AM IST and continue into the early morning of the following day. Most of the major events are scheduled for the evenings.
Paris Olympics 2024: Indian Participation
A total of 117 Indian athletes will compete in Paris. The Indian squad consists of 70 male and 47 female athletes across 16 sports disciplines. The contingent also includes 140 support staff and officials.
