IPL 2025: SRH, MI players to wear black armbands in tribute to Pahalgam terror attack victims
PTC Web Desk: In a solemn tribute to the victims of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, all players and umpires participating in the IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday evening will take the field wearing black armbands.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced this decision to honour the lives lost in the April 22nd terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. As a mark of respect, the match will be played in a somber atmosphere with no celebrations, no fireworks, and no cheerleader performances. Prior to the match, there will also be a moment of silence to pay homage to the deceased.
Several prominent Indian cricketers have publicly condemned the attack and expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives.
Sachin Tendulkar shared on social media: “The families affected by the attack must be going through unimaginable pain. India and the world stand united with them in this difficult time. We pray for justice for all those affected.”

Virat Kohli also posted on Instagram: “Deeply saddened by the heinous attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace, strength, and justice for all those impacted by this cruel act.”
Mohammad Siraj, known for his emotional connection to such causes, wrote: “Targeting and killing innocent civilians in the name of religion is wrong. No ideology can justify such brutality. What kind of battle is this where human life holds no value? This madness must end, and these terrorists must be captured and punished without mercy.”
