IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Top players to watch out in mega auction
IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The IPL 2025 mega auction is expected to attract a stellar array of notable players, making it a much-anticipated event. The top names include seasoned match-winners and rising talents with explosive talent.
With franchises looking to rebuild their teams, these talents might play key roles in shaping team strategies for the IPL 2025, delivering an action-packed and thrilling season.
A total of 577 players will be auctioned for the following year's IPL on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The auction will start at 3:30 PM IST.
James Anderson (England) - The England Test great wants to pen a last chapter in his distinguished career and is seeking an IPL berth for the first time, with a base fee of $148,115.
The 42-year-old fast bowler retired from Tests earlier this year with 704 wickets, the third-highest total in five-day history behind Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan and Australian spin ace Shane Warne.
Mitchell Starc (Australia) –Last year, the 34-year-old broke the IPL auction record when the Kolkata Knight Riders paid $2.98 million for his services.
The left-arm quick and handy lower-order slugger was instrumental in their title victory, taking 2-14 in the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Nevertheless, Kolkata chose not to keep him. "It is what it is; that is franchise cricket," Starc explained.
Rishabh Pant (India) - Pant, 27, was pulled out of professional cricket for more than a year after a horrific car accident in December 2022, but he returned to captain the Delhi Capitals this season.
India's best wicketkeeper-batsman and the franchise parted ways following their poor sixth-place finish, and Pant will also enter the auction at a base price of $237,000.
With his outstanding glovework and ability to take on bowlers with attacking and unconventional batting, analysts feel he is in line for a record payday.
David Miller (South Africa) - Named "Killer Miller" for his destructive batting, the South African boasts a T20 international strike rate of around 140.
The 35-year-old is also searching for a new home after playing for the Gujarat Titans since its start in 2022, scoring 210 runs in nine matches this season.
India's dismissal of Miller in this year's T20 World Cup final in Barbados was a turning point in the game, as the Proteas went on to lose.
He is anticipated to spark a bidding war after enrolling for the auction at a starting price of $178,000.
Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand) - Ravindra made an immediate impact in his IPL debut this year, scoring 222 runs at a punishing strike rate of over 161 for the Chennai Super Kings.
The left-hander's ability to play spin with ease on subcontinent pitches helped him perform well at last year's ODI World Cup and in New Zealand's recent 3-0 Test victory in India.
Ravindra was born in Wellington, but his parents are from Bengaluru, and there are expectations that he would join the city's franchise, which also includes fan favourite Virat Kohli.
