PTC News Desk: Indian Formula 2 driver Kush Maini crashed heavily during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix F2 main race on Sunday.

Starting sixth on the grid, Kush Maini's car failed to get off the line at the start of the race. With his car stalled on the grid, many cars managed to avoid Maini until he was smashed by a car from behind, resulting in a massive crash and immediately raising the red flag. Fortunately, Maini and all of the other drivers involved in the crash were able to walk away safely.

Maini, driving for Invicta Racing, qualified fifth in the feature race. After missing out on points in the sprint race on Saturday, the Indian was eager to make amends. However, his race ended early and abruptly due to a huge incident in which cars were flipped upside down.

The incident also significantly impacted Spanish driver Pepe Marti and Danish-German driver Oliver Goethe. They did, however, manage to escape with minor injuries. The fact that all drivers were safe was another indication of increasing safety in motorsport.

Maini is currently in his second season of Formula 2 and is part of Alpine F1 Team's driver academy, with Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon. Ocon will be replaced by Australian rookie Jack Doohan in 2025. Maini is currently competing for a reserve driver position at Alpine for next season.
