India clinch Under-19 Women's Asia Cup title, beats Bangladesh
PTC News Desk: India has defeated Bangladesh and secured the inaugural edition of the ACC U-19 Women's T20 Asia Cup in the final at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday, December 22.
Trisha, who was an architect of India’s triumph in the Women’s T20 World Cup last year in South Africa, scored a hard-fought half-century. Asked to bat first, India could only post 117 for seven. Apart from Trisha, no other batter managed a significant score. Opening the innings, Trisha made 52 runs off 47 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. Captain Prasad reached double figures but failed to build on her start.
Mithila Vinod added some late impetus with a quick 17 off 12 balls. For Bangladesh, fast bowler Farjana Easmin took impressive figures of 4-0-31-4. The in-form Nishita Akter Nishi also claimed two key wickets, ensuring the Indian batters couldn't dominate.
Despite the wickets falling at the other end, Trisha reached her half-century and became Easmin's third wicket. She made 52 runs from 47 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes, with a strike rate of 110.63.
A quickfire 17 off 12 balls by Mithila Vinod helped India finish with a respectable total, but it was the team's disciplined bowling that was crucial for defending the score.
