Court orders Mohammed Shami to pay Rs 1.30 lakh monthly alimony to estranged wife
Kolkata, January 23: Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has been ordered by a court in Kolkata to pay his estranged wife Hasin Jahan Rs. 1.30 lakh in alimony every month.
Out of the Rs. 1.30 lakh, Rs. 50,000 will go toward Hasin Jahan's personal alimony, and the remaining Rs. 80,000 will go toward the upkeep of their daughter, who is living with her.
In 2018, Hasin Jahan filed a lawsuit in court seeking monthly alimony of Rs 10 lakh, of which Rs 7 lakh would be for her own support and the remaining Rs 3 lakh would be for their daughter's maintenance.
Her attorney Mriganka Mistry informed the court that the Indian pacer's annual income for the fiscal year 2020–21 was over Rs 7 crore and that the demand for a monthly alimony of Rs 10 lakh was therefore not unreasonable.
Selim Rahman, Shami's counsel argued that Hasin Jahan's demand for such a high amount of alimony was unjustified because she had a reliable source of income from her work as a professional fashion model.
Finally, the lower court set the monthly alimony amount at Rs 1.30 lakh on Monday after hearing from both parties.
