SIT probing Bikram Majithia drug case reconstituted: Sources

Chandigarh, March 20: After the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party's government in Punjab, the state police have reconstituted the special investigation team(SIT) probing Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia's drug case. According to sources, the new SIT will have four members and will be headed by AIG Rahul. Bikram-Majithia The previous SIT probing charges against the former Cabinet Minister was a three-member team, which was headed by AIG Balraj Singh. If sources are to be believed, the senior police officers were dissatisfied with the probe and pace of work of this previous AIG Balraj Singh-led SIT. Bikram-Majithia "A new SIT team consisting of four members has been formed to be headed by AIG S Rahul, for the investigation of a drug case involving SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia," said Punjab state police chief Viresh Kumar Bhawra, adding "Senior officers of the Bureau of Investigation will supervise the probe." Mohali District Court on March 8, had extended Majithia's judicial custody till March 22, in a drugs case. The SAD leader was sent to judicial custody till March 8 by the court on February 24.
