Shotgun World Championship 2022: India wins bronze in junior men's skeet team
Osijek (Croatia), October 6: Indian shooters Bhavtegh Gill, Rituraj Bundela, and Abhay Singh Sekhon on Wednesday clinched the junior men's skeet team competition and the bronze medal at the ISSF Shotgun World Championship 2022 in Osijek, Croatia. The Indian trio defeated the Czech Republic 6-2 to win bronze. India clinched its fourth medal in the ongoing global shotgun championships. India finished third out of ten teams in the qualifying stages, with a score of 204 out of a potential 225. The Czech Republic's squad of Bohumil Vobr, Martin Vcelicka, and Adam Vesely achieved the same result. India finished third after winning the shoot-off 11-10. The USA scored 209 points in the qualification round, while Finland scored 208 to progress to the gold medal match, which the USA won 6-0. Areeba Khan, Mufaddal Zahra Deesawal, and Parinaz Dhaliwal of the women's junior skeet team shot 187 in qualification to finish fourth and proceed to the bronze medal match. In the bronze medal match, India's junior ladies were defeated 7-3 by Slovakia. Earlier in the day, the junior men's trap team won gold, and Areeba Khan earned silver in the junior women's skeet. On Tuesday, India's junior mixed skeet squad claimed bronze.
