Seizure of 197-kg heroin: Anwar Masih attempts suicide in front of media persons
Day after Additional Sessions Judge, Pushpinder Singh, rejected the interim bail of Anwar Masih in connection with the seizure of 197-kg heroin from a residential building in Sultanwind, an ex-SSB member on Tuesday attempted suicide in front of the media persons.
It may be recalled that Anwar Masih was arrested by the Special Task Force in February 2020 in connection with the seizure of 197-kg heroin from a residential building in Sultanwind.

The building, from where heroin was seized, belonged to Anwar Masih. He was booked by the STF under Section 25 of the NDPS Act (owner of the place where the drug trade was being carried out is responsible for the premises).

Reportedly, the STF had seized 197-kg heroin and arrested around 20 persons, including an Afghan national in the case. However, Masih managed to get interim bail around 8 months ago following health issues.
Meanwhile, Anwar Masih pleaded not guilty and attempted suicide in front of the media persons. He consumed a poisonous substance outside the STF office at Mall Mandi, Amritsar, on Tuesday.

The incident took place when mass protests were being held in favor of Anwar Masih by Christian organizations and religious leaders. After he consumed a poisonous substance, Anwar Masih was taken to hospital by police.
