'Spoofing, leaking of sensitive information': Centre issues ‘severe’ warning for iPhone, Mac users
PTC News Desk: The central government has flagged 'multiple vulnerabilities' in Apple products such as iPhones, iPads, and more, which can lead to spoofing or the leakage of sensitive information from the device. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued the advisory on its official platform, describing the situation as 'highly severe'.
The CERT alert from August 2 states: “Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products which could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DoS) and perform spoofing attacks on the targeted system.”
The central agency identified these flaws in Apple software, including iOS and iPadOS versions before 17.6 and 16.7.9, macOS Sonoma versions before 14.6, macOS Ventura versions before 13.6.8, macOS Monterey versions before 12.7.6, watchOS versions before 10.6, tvOS versions before 17.6, visionOS versions before 1.3, and Safari versions before 17.6.
CERT advised Apple users to install the essential software updates specified by the company to avoid any high-level threats. Apple has yet to confirm any security risk from their end.
