Shift from Musk's X to Dorsey's Bluesky; disgruntled users vouch for hate-free platform
PTC News Desk: Disgruntled X users have thronged to a new social media platform Bluesky, that practically grew out of twitter before billionaire Elon Musk acquired in 2022. While it is not as huge as the X formerly known as twitter, it has surely become a centre stage and alternative for the users who are chasing a platform which is less inclined towards Musk. The major shift has been witnessed post US Presidential elections.
Patronized by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Bluesky was restricted to invitation slated platform up until February when it became public which eventually provided the platform to build moderation tools and establish other features. Users can send direct messages and pin posts, as well as find “starter packs” that provide a curated list of people and custom feeds to follow.
User who are shifting to Bluesky mosly include journalists, left-leaning politicians and celebrities who are vouching for a platform that is free from hate-speech and advertisements which also according to some gave a throwback to the early days of twitter almost a decade ago.
According to Bluesky, its total users accelarated to 15 million from 13 million owing to the users' alternate choice to post their thoughts free from hate. The post-election uptick in users isn’t the first time Bluesky has benefited from people leaving X. Despite Bluesky’s growth, X posted after the election that it had “dominated the global conversation on the U.S. election” and had set new records.
