Elon Musk proposes new Twitter policy; negative tweets to be deboosted, demonetised

Washington (US), November 19:  Elon Musk has been trying to revamp Twitter since taking full control of the microblogging site. He announced a new Twitter policy on Friday.

Taking to Twitter, he said, "New Twitter policy is freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach." He also added that Twitter will demonetize and not promote tweets containing hate speech or otherwise "negative" content.

"New Twitter policy is freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach. Negative/hate tweets will be max deboosted & demonetized, so no ads or other revenue to Twitter. You won't find the tweet unless you specifically seek it out, which is no different from rest of Internet," he said.

He also stated that Twitter intends to restore several controversial accounts that had previously been banned or suspended, but that the company has yet to make a decision regarding former President Donald Trump's account.

Musk stated that the accounts of controversial Canadian podcaster Jordan Peterson and the right-wing satire website Babylon Bee, both of which had previously been banned from the platform, would be restored. According to CNN, he also stated that comedian Kathy Griffin, who was suspended from the platform earlier this month for impersonating Musk, would have her account restored.

"Kathie Griffin, Jorden Peterson & Babylon Bee have been reinstated. Trump decision has not yet been made," he added.
