Air Pollution in Delhi: The Supreme Court quashed a Delhi government's plea against the Centre, seeking closure of 10 thermal power plants in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The petition alleged that it was causing air pollution in the national capital.
The petition by the Delhi government sought to quash and set aside an order passed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to the thermal power plants regarding the extension of the deadline for installing Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD).

A Supreme Court bench of Justices Navin Sinha and R S Reddy said that it was amusing that Delhi was coming in a PIL against the Centre.
When Justice Sinha asked if the council was withdrawing the plea, Advocate Gonsalves sought permission to implead into that matter. It was then when the petition was dismissed by the top court.
The petition had also sought to quash an order by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, extending the timelines for complying with the emission norms by coal-based power plants.
