SC grants bail to journalist Siddique Kappan
New Delhi, September 9: Supreme Court has granted bail to Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan who was booked by the UP government under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in 2020.
On Friday, Chief Justice of India UU Lalit stated that the top court will grant bail to Siddique Kappan who was arrested in October 2020 on his way to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh where a Dalit woman had died after allegedly being gang-raped.

The Uttar Pradesh government earlier informed the Supreme Court that Kappan had extensive ties to the PFI and is part of a bigger conspiracy to "incite religious discord and spread terror."
According to sources, Kappan will be released after being produced before the trial court in three days.
