SC asks Uttar Pradesh Govt to ensure protection of witnesses in Lakhimpur Kheri case
Lakhimpur Kheri case: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh Government and asked them to file a reply on a plea seeking cancellation of bail of Lakhimpur Kheri violence accused Ashish Mishra, who is the son of MoS MHA Ajay Mishra Teni. Meanwhile, the top court has asked the Uttar Pradesh Govt to ensure the protection of witnesses in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. Also Read | News of Lawrence Bishnoi group claiming responsibility for Sandeep Nangal's death is FAKE On Tuesday, the Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana listed the matter to be heard on Wednesday saying that it will constitute the same bench, who was earlier dealing with issues arising out of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident case. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioner, said that soon one of the prime protected witnesses was brutally attacked, a few days after the bail was granted to Ashish Mishra and the alleged attackers also said that now BJP has won the election they will take care of him. Likewise, the family members of the victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident moved the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court order, which granted bail to Ashish Mishra. In the Special Leave Petition, family members of the deceased have challenged the Allahabad High Court order dated February 10, 2022, wherein Ashish Mishra has granted regular bail.
