SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal gives up his pension as ex-MLA
Chandigarh, March 17: Shiromani Akali Dal patron Parkash Singh Badal has given up his pension as an ex-MLA to the Punjab Government. In a tweet addressed to the Punjab Government and Assembly Speaker, the Shiromani Akali Dal patron said," Whatever pension accrues to him as an ex-MLA should be spent on public welfare and in no case should be sent to him. A formal request in this regard is being sent separately," he added. Parkash Singh Badal has been five-time Punjab Chief Minister. He was defeated from his home constituency Lambi in the recently concluded Punjab Assembly elections by AAP’s Gurmeet Singh Khuddian.
The former Punjab Chief Minister asked the Punjab Government and the Punjab Assembly Speaker to divert his pension towards social work, “preferably to help some needy girl students in their education as girls’ education has always remained very close to my heart”. “They have a right over me as they have always enriched my life with warmth which only daughters can offer. Their affection has lent me strength even in the most challenging moments of my life,” said Parkash Singh Badal. The former Punjab chief minister said that he had never drawn any pension all his life as he had remained an active legislator from the start. -PTC NewsI request @PunjabGovtIndia &hon’ble speaker that whatever pension accrues to me as ex MLA may please be used for the interests of the people of Pb (Lok hitaan vaaste).
