Russia-Ukraine war: Japan slaps new sanctions on 15 Russians, 9 entities
Tokyo (Japan), March 18: Japan has imposed sanctions on 15 Russian individuals and nine more entities over the military offensive in Ukraine, said the Japanese Foreign Ministry on Friday. The list of the sanctioned officials includes Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova and four deputy defence ministers: Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, Aleksey Krivoruchko, Timur Ivanov and Dmitry Bulgakov, among others. The Japanese sanctions also hit Russian defence entities, like Rosoboronexport, Russian Helicopters and the United Aircraft Corporation. According to the finance ministry, Japan has so far sanctioned 76 individuals, seven banks and 12 other companies in Russia. Meanwhile, Australia has imposed sanctions on Russia's finance ministry as well as 11 other banks and government entities, affecting the majority of the country's banking assets as well as all firms that deal with the country's sovereign debt. Furthermore, Ukraine suffered big losses on the day as 'Mother Heroine' - Olga Semidyanova and actor Oksana Shvets were killed in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. 48-year-old Olga Semidyanova, a famous doctor who once served in the military, was martyred during a firefight in the city near Donetsk as she kept battling after much of her squad was killed. Popular actress of the Young Theatre - Oksana Shvets, on the other hand, was killed amid the Russian shelling in Kiev, She was the recipient of the country's highest artistic honours, titled 'Honoured Artist of Ukraine’.
