New Delhi, March 13: The Indian Embassy in Kiev will be temporarily relocated to Poland due to the deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, which includes attacks in the country's western regions, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Sunday. The Ministry went on to say that it is monitoring developments in Ukraine and that the situation will be evaluated as per that. "In view of the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, including attacks in the western parts of the country, it has been decided that the Indian Embassy in Ukraine will be temporarily relocated in Poland. The situation will be reassessed in the light of further developments," said the MEA. Indian Embassy in Ukraine relocates to Poland On February 24, Russia launched a "military action" in Ukraine, claiming it was in response to calls for protection from Ukrainian troops by the breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. The Russian Defense Ministry maintains that the "special operation" is primarily aimed at Ukrainian military infrastructure and that the civilian population is unaffected. The West, on the other hand, has denied these claims and placed sanctions against Russia. Meanwhile, Pope Francis on Sunday condemned the "massacre" in Ukraine and said that the "unacceptable armed aggression" must stop. Francis, while speaking to thousands of people in St. Peter's Square for his Sunday blessing, also said the bombing of hospitals and other civilian targets was "barbaric" and with "no valid strategic reason."
