Russia-Ukraine war: Indian embassy advises its citizens to leave Kiev urgently
The Embassy of India in Ukraine on Tuesday advised stranded Indian nationals to leave the capital city of Kiev urgently. The officials have advised the Indians to leave the city by trains or other means available.
"Advisory to Indians in Kyiv. All Indian nationals including students are advised to leave Kyiv urgently today. Preferably by available trains or through any other means available," read a tweet by the India embassy in Ukraine.
The fresh advisory has been issued as an air raid alert was sounded in the capital city of Kiev on Tuesday. Alert has also been sounded in Uman, Cherkasy and Vinnytsia, and residents are advised to go to the nearest shelter.
Satellite images showing a long convoy of Russian military vehicles snaking along roadways northwest of Kyiv have also emerged according to CNN. Hundreds of tanks, towed artillery, armoured and logistical vehicles can be seen in the visuals released by a US-based space technology firm.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked Indian Air Force to join evacuation efforts. Indian Air Force is likely to deploy several C-17 aircraft from Tuesday onwards to evacuate Indians stranded in war-torn Ukraine.

Moreover, the ninth flight carrying 218 stranded Indian nationals has departed for New Delhi from the Romanian capital Bucharest under Operation Ganga.
"We will not rest till our fellow Indians are safe. Ninth Operation Ganga flight departs Bucharest for New Delhi with 218 Indian nationals, tweeted External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday night, another flight from Bucharest with 182 Indian nationals departed for Mumbai.
At the high-level meeting over the Ukraine crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the entire government machinery is working round the clock to ensure that all Indians there are safe and secure.
