Record 14,000 unaccompanied migrant children in US custody
A record number of 14,000 unaccompanied migrant children are currently in US custody. According to a Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesman, Mark Weber, President Donald trump administration has taken several steps to reduce risk and increase safety for these children. The administration is taking all possible steps to protect these children in an environment with many bad influences.
The administration is also trying to maintain a balance between speed and safety and is working towards safety. Also, it has increased the scrutiny of adults coming forward to take care of these migrant children. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has started conducting exhaustive screenings of the people who are coming forward to take care of these children. Many lawsuits have accused the Trump’s administration of extending children’s stays like allegedly holding these children intentionally until they turn 18.
