While several prominent personalities from across the globe are extending support to the ongoing farmers' protest, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown has come in support of farmers. He took to Twitter to extend his support for the farmers protesting at Delhi borders. The recent images from Delhi have been heart breaking." "I hope for a peaceful resolution as farmers continue to exercise their democratic rights," Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown added. Likewise, the Leader of Ontario’s Official Opposition, Andrea Horwath, said, "#IStandWithFarmers from across India exercising their right to peacefully protest their government. I denounce the state-sanctioned violence they face & call on all leaders to do the same. Peaceful protest is a vital democratic right & must be met with dialogue, not violence." These laws are the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
