R-Day 2022: Grand Air Force fly-past brings parade to majestic end
The 73rd Republic Day parade on Rajpath came to a majestic end with a spectacular fly-past with 75 Indian Air Force aircraft on Wednesday, making it the greatest in the parade's history.
As many as 75 aircraft and helicopters flew past Rajpath in different formations at incredible speeds. The booming aerobatics, which was performed by IAF personnel with expert skill, was a sight to behold. The Defence Ministry also released spectacular footage from the cockpit of the fly-past. This is the first time viewers have received an aerial perspective of the fly-past, which they had only watched from the ground up until now.
Among the several formations seen during the fly-past, the IAF also showcased the Rahat formation, which comprised five ALH aircraft. Five aircraft flew in an 'Arrowhead' formation at 60 metres over the water channel, North of Rajpath.

While in the Meghna formation, a five-plane 'Arrowhead' formation, consisting of a CH-47 Chinook in the lead and four Mi-17 1V aircraft in the echelon, flew at 80 metres AOL over the water channel North of Rajpath.
The Eklavya formation, which consisted of one Mi-35 aircraft in the lead and four Apache helicopters in the echelon, flew in a five ac 'Arrowhead' formation.
The Tangail formation, consisting of one Dakota in the lead and two Dornier in the echelon, flew in Victory formation at 300m AOL over the water channel North of Rajpath.
The Traan, comprising of 1C17 with 2xC 130 aircraft in echelon, flew in Victory formation at 400m AOL, while the Netra formation comprising IAEW and C aircraft with 2 MiG 29 UPG 2 Su-30 MKI ac in echelon flew in Arrowhead formation at 360m AOL.
The Vinaash, Baaz, Trishul, Varuna (IN), Tiranga, Vijay, and Amrit formations were also performed.
