Punjab’s Kapurthala admin attaches movable, immovable properties of Golden Sandhar sugar mill Phagwara
Phagwara , September 16: In order to ensure the payment of sugarcane farmers by the Golden Sandhar sugar mill, Phagwara, the district administration has attached all movable and immovable properties of the mill with the district collector under Section 72 of the Punjab Land Revenue Act 1887. The attached properties included machinery, a power generation plant, structures, buildings, yards, residential compounds, vehicles, and other movable and immovable assets. The land was allotted for the sugar mill purpose under the specific conditions. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, Vishesh Sarangal said since 2019-20, several sugarcane farmers had sold their crops to the mill, but had not been paid. A few days ago, the Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner had also written a letter to 22 Deputy Commissioners of the state. As per the reports, the Tehsildar, Phagwara, said the Golden Sandhar sugar mill had to pay Rs 50. 33 crore farmers against the purchase of sugarcane. In the letter, the Tehsildar also informed that mill owners/administration were not cooperating to clear the pending dues of farmers, which forced the administration to attach the properties of the mill.
