Punjab Vigilance arrests Mohali’s kanungo over corruption charges
Chandigarh August 17: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday nabbed Amrik Singh posted as Kanungo in the office of Director Abadkari (Resettlement) at Punjab Mandi Board complex Mohali red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 3,000. Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the accused Kanugo has been arrested on the complaint of Kuldeep Singh of village Bhukhri Kalan, Ludhiana district. Also Read| Gurdaspur: DC issues warning ahead of water release from Ranjit Sagar Dam He informed that the complainant has informed the VB that he had applied NOC for selling his booth at New Grain Market Ludhiana but the above mentioned Kanugo was demanding bribe of Rs 8,000 from him. The complainant added that the accused Amrik Singh has already taken Rs 5000 from him and demanding Rs 3,000 as second instalment to issue NOC to him. The spokesperson further informed that after verification of the facts in the complaint and the material evidence, a VB team laid a trap and the accused was arrested while accepting bribe Rs 3,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case under FIR No.13 dtd 17.08.2022 u/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at P.S VB F.S-1, SAS Nagar.
