Punjab vehicle owners can carry digital copies of Driving Licence, Registration Certificate
Use of mParivahan and DigiLocker Approved: Punjab Transport Department has allowed the electronic format of DLs and RCs. Thus, the vehicle owners in Punjab can now carry digital copies of their driving licence (DL) and registration certificate (RCs). Punjab Transport Minister Razia Sultana said in a statement that the driving licence and vehicle registration certificate can be produced through mobile apps such as mParivahan and DigiLocker if law enforcement authorities like the traffic police and Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) ask for these documents during the on-spot inspection. DL & RC produced through Mobile Apps- mParivahan and DigiLocker to be recognized by traffic police and RTOs orders Punjab Transport Department." It will enable vehicle owners to not carry plastic cards or physical copies. The State Transport Commissioner has issued a letter to all Secretaries of Punjab State Regional Transport Authorities/Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDMs) and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) traffic to inform the checking staff in this regard. She directed that the information regarding allowing 'virtual' DLs and RCs should be put on the notice boards of the transport offices to aware the general public.
