Punjab to bring in law on job quota for locals in govt, private sectors: CM Channi
With the 2022 Assembly elections in Punjab nearing, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi recently made big announcements in order to woo voters. Now, the Punjab Chief Minister has announced that after Haryana, the state government would soon bring in a law to ensure near cent per cent quota for locals in government and private sector jobs. In an interview with a newspaper recently, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said employment generation was the top priority of the Congress' model for a government in 2022, when the Punjab Assembly elections were due. Punjab CM Channi said he was taking legal opinion for increasing job opportunities. From January 15 next, the Haryana Government would implement its law ensuring 75 per cent quota in private sector jobs for local candidates. The Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Act, 2020, was passed on March 2, but the decision on its implementation was announced on November 6.
